Silky smooth & Sichuan spicy! Douhua literally means ‘soybean flower’ – and that's exactly how delicate it tastes. This soft, fresh tofu dish is a popular street food tradition throughout China and in the Chinese-Cantonese diaspora. Before it goes on sale, Tantan Douhua makes its own soft silken tofu every morning. Douhua is served in a variety of ways:

For a small snack, it is served plain with homemade Sichuan chilli oil. If you want something more substantial, it can be served on a bed of noodles! And there's something for those with a sweet tooth too: in China, douhua is traditionally eaten sweet, for example for breakfast. At Tantan Douhua, this version is served with brown sugar syrup and goji berries.

Even before the market opens, the hall's gates open: The butcher counter, cafés, bakeries, and some shops are there for you early in the morning. And it's also worth visiting after the market closes – for example, for a glass of something, a pizza, or to soak up the hall's atmosphere.
