The community-run farm project Wilde Gärtnerei, which was founded in 2008, focuses on the year-round cultivation and processing of vegetables in Rüdnitz, Barnim. Here, organic means more than just ‘without pesticides’. The farm uses traditional and pioneering techniques to promote sustainable agriculture, including mixed cultivation, mulching and its own compost production. Research is being carried out into how biovegan farming can be combined with Demeter and how meditation can enrich agriculture.
The concept of the self-sufficient farm includes growing and harvesting the greatest possible regional variety of food, processing surpluses in a variety of ways and storing vegetables under natural conditions over the winter months or harvesting them fresh in winter. Wilde Gärtnerei does not buy and trade, but only offers its own produce. So you can find freshly harvested leafy vegetables all year round at the Wilde Gärtnerei stand, some years regional pumpkins in the following spring or carrots with greens in winter.
At the Wilde Gärtnerei stand you can pay the recommended price (100%), a supporter price (110%) or even less, 80% or 50%.
Not only is food grown here, but a common place of learning and work is also created for everyone. The knowledge of cultivation is passed on to many people and the farm is open to welcoming inexperienced people to join in and contribute for a short or long time.
