Hacer "Leyla" Aldemir has lived in Berlin since 1972. In Kreuzberg, to be precise. Her parents came to Germany as labour migrants from Malatya in Turkey. A biography typical of the neighbourhood where Markthalle Neun is located. But Leyla, as everyone calls her, has not only been there with her Anatolian-Mediterranean delicatessen stall since the start of Markthalle Neun. Cooking is her passion. She has been doing this for more than 25 years using traditional family recipes. When selecting her ingredients, she always prioritises fresh and, where possible, regional produce. Turkish tapas with the knowledge of a food culture that is thousands of years old and rich in facets and flavours. Ur-Kreuzberg, of course.
