Production visit: It's all about the sausage

Location:

Metzgerei Kumpel & Keule

Check out the butcher shop at Kumpel & Keule!

It’s not (just) about the sausage! It’s about transparency, artisanal production, the origin of the meat, and above all: the taste.

You can actually see this for yourself every day at the market hall, because in the Kumpels’ glass-walled butcher shop, you can watch as sausages, burgers, and other specialties are made. The team led by master butcher Jörg Förstera is restoring dignity to the butcher’s craft. Kumpel & Keule represents a new, young generation of butchers who, with passion and conviction, are on a quest for all-encompassing quality—from pasture to plate. This tour gives you the chance to get even closer to it all. Look over the Kumpels’ shoulders, ask all your questions about training to become a master butcher, and then grab a slice of sausage at the meat counter, just like in the old days. Yay!

Knock, Knock... Who’s There? Everyone!

The doors of Markthalle Neun are usually open. And yet there are corners, stories and ideas that sometimes remain hidden in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With ‘Offene Türen’, we make them visible.

How does a market hall actually work? Who is behind the stalls? Where is beer brewed in here, why does it smell of cake in the cellar - and what did it used to look like here 130 years ago?

With guided tours, talks, tastings and lots of little surprises, we open doors: to spaces and to people, to concepts and to stories. For all those who have known the Halle for a long time - and for all those who want to discover it anew.
