Since 2019, Frisch Gefischt has been bridging the gap between traditional fishing practices and customers in Berlin who are passionate about mindful, seasonal, and—above all—fresh fish. They’ve been with us in the market hall since 2022, preserving a time-honored craft through sustainable fishing methods, adherence to closed seasons to protect fish stocks, and fair pay for the fishermen.

One person who loves his craft is John Jones. Wearing a flat cap, a blue rubber apron, and a pen tucked behind his ear, John stands behind the fish counter in the market hall, which he sets up every morning with meticulous attention to detail. After all, John has loved working with fish ever since he was a child. And just as he learned in the early years of his career—back when he was still in the UK—he is now our trusted fishmonger in Kreuzberg.
