Tamaleo

Thursday 24. September

Handmade tamales are small corn dough parcels wrapped in banana leaves, available in sweet or savory varieties. This Latin American dish is then steamed and eaten straight from the leaf — bite by bite. You can experience this at the street food festival, too, because Tamaleo will be bringing its Tamales de Pollo.

The Andes & the Amazon,
Anticucho & Cotton Candy

Peru is high up on the international fine-dining landscape – but what would high-end cuisine be without markets and street stalls? Non-existent! The idea: to read cuisine as a flavourful history book. It begins with millennium-old Inca traditions from the Andes. Over the centuries, it has simmered alongside African influences, Chinese (Chifa) and Japanese (Nikkei) migration to become far more than just a colourful stew:

Ceviche, cooked in acid, meets the wok heat of a lomo saltado and fiery anticuchos skewers straight from the charcoal grill. An honest cuisine that connects the Pacific with the world’s migration stories.

With this Street Food special, we’re saving ourselves the plane ticket: Peru is cooking right in the heart of Kreuzberg. Grab a glass of chicha morada and join us!
