In Odesa, everything in life happens around a table.
We sit together at the table, and say goodbye there. We fall in love, discuss business, make peace, argue, celebrate, laugh, cry and grieve: and all of it happens at the table.
For Odesans, the table is much more than a place to eat. It’s a place to keep our friendships alive, share stories and look out for each another. We instinctively know what someone needs, even before they’ve asked.
Built on the shores of the Black Sea, Odesa is a cultural crossroads, shaped by people from all sorts of nationalities and traditions. This beautiful diversity is nowhere more alive than in Odesa’s food. Recipes have travelled from family to family and between generations. They always carry the taste of home.
Today, in these most challenging of times, the ritual of gathering around a table feels more precious than ever. It reminds us who we are, where we come from, and shows us that we are not alone.
Inspired by Cuisines of Odesa, this pop-up dinner will bring the Ukrainian table to life through the food, stories and traditions of our beloved city.
We welcome you to our table, to share a real taste of Odesa.
