Silky smooth and Sichuan spicy!
Silky smooth & Sichuan spicy! Douhua literally means “soybean flower” – and that's exactly how delicate it tastes. This soft, fresh tofu dish is a popular street food tradition throughout China and in the Chinese-Cantonese diaspora. Before it goes on sale, Tantan Douhua makes its own soft silken tofu every morning.
Douhua is served in a variety of ways: for a small snack, it is served plain with homemade Sichuan chili oil. If you want something more substantial, it can be served on a bed of noodles! And there's something for those with a sweet tooth too: in China, douhua is traditionally eaten sweet with brown sugar syrup and goji berries. The current special has even more of a dessert character: shaved ice with sugar syrup, silken tofu, and peanut powder!
