Learn how to garden!

The non-profit Tiny Farms Academy, founded in 2020, supports newcomers in entering organic commercial vegetable farming through a low-threshold approach. Applications for the 2026 program are now open, inviting interested participants to join a holistic learning journey that combines bio-intensive vegetable production, hands-on practice, and personal development.

A modular learning journey for all entry levels

In 2026, the Tiny Farms Academy offers three course formats that together form a modular learning pathway. The most accessible format is “Farmer for a Day”—an introductory day course that will also be offered in English in 2026. The next step is the 9-month Tiny Farms Academy program. During this training, participants dive deep into bio-intensive vegetable production and develop a clear vision for their future role in sustainable agriculture—whether by founding their own farm or becoming a changemaker within the food system.

The Tiny Farms Academy learning concept: Field Work and Inner Work

The Tiny Farms Academy prepares participants to start their own micro-farm through a twelve-step learning process. These twelve steps are divided into two thematic areas. In “Field Work,” participants learn all the key techniques of bio-intensive vegetable farming. In “Inner Work,” participants strengthen their connection to themselves, their community, and the broader social and ecological context. They develop skills in self-leadership, organizational development, and social responsibility—core competencies for regenerative agriculture.
